Her Instagram account showcases their home in Christchurch and what a home it is...

Before you have a read check out how this family of five lived on the property while building their dream family home.

A 40ft shipping container was the answer to their living while they built their home.  It was the fastest, most cost-effective solution to accommodate their needs.

The container house was a cosy, warm, light and welcoming 58-square-metre fully functioning home with two bedrooms, a bathroom, laundry, kitchen, living and an outdoor deck area.

How would you describe the style of your home?

I wouldn’t describe my house as any one style, it is multiple. It is modern, contemporary, scandi and a little bit industrial.

Where did you get your ideas / inspiration from for the build?

Pinterest was probably a regular source for inspo. We did walk throughs through a lot of homes taking notes. I also read a lot of home magazines.

What was the vision for your home?

We wanted a light bright and practical family home. We also wanted a home built for entertaining as we love having a full house of family and friends.

(The long hallway with large floor to ceiling windows allows for light to stream in)

What is your favourite space and why?

This is a tough question I love every space but if I have to chose it would probably be my teenage daughters bedroom. It was such a fun room to do I had a theme which was boho chic. It is such a relaxing room I often just go in there and lay on the bed and I feel like I’m on tropical holiday. Everything about it is calming.

How would you sum up the style of your home’s interior?

My home is style in a few styles it is a mix of boho, scandi and a wee bit contemporary. I try not to have just one style as it can date to easily.

What’s next? Another build?

We are still finalising those few little details on our interior, cause as you know when your married to a builder your house is never finished. We have now moved on to the gigantic task of landscaping. I loved building this house I would do it again in a second but I think my husband doesn’t want to do it again any time soon.

Hope you enjoyed the feature x
